I was thinking about balance and what not in the shower this morning and then a quote came to me. I thought: If one places a stick into a fire and then pulls it out very quickly the stick will be unchanged, if one leaves the stick in the fire too long it will be consumed by the flames and destroyed, but if one leaves the stick in the fire for the right amount of time the stick will become stronger than it was before. I think it is good to try different things and hold down steady activities, just as long as one does not let his activities consume him. This also reminded me of the buddhist principle of following the middle road, never too much, never too little. The old quote goes: If one pulls the strings of a guitar too tight they will snap, too loose and it will not play.
